Be the Change you Want to See

Tonight I'm not going to the much anticipated showing of Harry Potter 7 that I have been waiting for. I'm sad that the movie is NOT what I was hoping for. There are two reason's I'm taking a stand, the first is less complicated than the second.

1) We don't watch above a PG rating at our house. Thanks to clearplay, this goal is relatively easy for my husband and I to keep. (If you are a PG purist household, sorry to disappoint.)

2) After reading this article I got really upset that they had changed the plot line around. Why are Harry and Hermione dancing naked together? What plot line does that serve? I'm going to call myself a Harry Potter "purist" and stew about how dumb it is to deviate so much from a well done set of movies (meaning they followed the books really impressively.)

One person was quoted as saying that "people get naked everyday"; If it were simply a problem of "being naked" then most people would have had a problem with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. THAT was appropriate nudity. This is different.

As I thought about this the past few days I came to the conclusion that "lumping" gets people in trouble. If you find a lump on your body, it's usually bad; therefore don't start lumping nudity together. All nudity is not created equal. Example: Waking Ned Divine.

If enough people were mad enough to boycott as I am, then maybe we would end up with a Saving Silverman situation, where there are two versions with different ratings. David Yates, I am willing to buy a copy of a PG rated Harry Potter 7. I hope you are willing to make one happen.

PS-the nudity I am talking about will be in the second part of the HP7 movies.

I knew there was a reason I didn't want to join on the HP wagon...well, that and the darkness of it all.

No, it was in the first one. They aren't dancing naked. There's a part where they dance (with clothes on, just as friends trying to find some happiness in their situation)... and then there's the part where Ron is about to destroy the locket and Voldimort is getting into his head by suggesting Hermoine loves Harry. In the book it says they kiss in his vision. In the movie... they made them kiss naked. That little scene ruined the whole thing for me.
