Look at this yummyness. Greg made an Argentinian specialty for me, Empanadas! He took this recipe and modified it a little (added potato's, used less garlic, and no olives or raisins) and wa-lah! They were delicious. He even made the pastry shells using our nifty pasta roller, which got them really thin. He cooked 86% of them in the solar oven. The last 14% was cooking inside with the broiler to give them a little crispy-ness. They were AMAZING! Thanks Honey!

Our Solar Oven
We just added a solar oven to the list of cookware in our house a week ago. We got it from Global Sun Solar Oven's through ebay for $230. Here are some pictures:

It takes up the same space as a BBQ grill, and needs to be rotated with the sun in order to do it's job. Auburn loves the shiny foil. It's easy to move (lightweight as well), and easy to set up. So far here are the things we've cooked in it:
blackberry crisp dessert
vegetables (on a half cloudy day)
pork roast
eggplant/onion kabobs
My regular 9x13 glass pan doesn't fit inside, but one that is dark with straight sides will. We hear that it will cook anything, but won't ever burn it. I'm not sure I believe it.
Greg has a phobia of the food cooked inside the oven. He swears that it has "a taste" that is gross. Silly Greg.

Pumpkin Mania!
Thanksgiving brought our house some pumpkin mania! Greg and I each made a pumpkin dish. Greg made Pumpkin Gnocchi, using the recipe off of Becky's Project Domestication blog. He did such a good job of rolling all the individual gnocchi, I was so impressed with how much time he spent on this dish.
My pumpkin dish was a pumpkin cheese cake. It was SO GOOD that we don't have any pictures of the finished product. It had a sour cream and pecan topping.
YumYumYum! Thank you Des and Chuck for the spring form pan & cheesecake cookbook!
Happy pumpkin loving Thanksgiving!
