Pictures of the Week

Why of course it's all about Auburn! I feel sorry for people that don't have photogenic kids. Must be a bummer of a blog life.

Well, this little girl is getting sly by the minute. Today I was holding her and getting a drink of water, then WHAM! She hits the cup sending my drink all over my shirt. Amazing you say; why yes, it is, I say.

Now, this is just one of many acquired skills this week.

Others include: hugging her toys

Looking at her hand

Grabbing the flower off her head (literally, she takes it off.)

And pulling her blanket towards her, so that she can grab whatever I left on the end of it (like my scriptures yesterday.)

To celebrate most of these events she eats what ever is in her hands. Like her flower or my scriptures. And on the rare occasion that she achieves water spillage, she eats my hair.

PS-Auburn just pulled her flower apart. sheesh.

Decoupage What????

I am addicted to decoupage. Not only the smell - but it looks good on every single thing I put it on! I have used it on a dozen Christmas decorations and plan on using it ALL SEASON LONG! I made this little sign with some scrapbook paper I found - super cute and super easy! I also made a candle holder, tree decorations, and gift tags with paper similar to this. Whoever invented decoupage is genius.

New Dress!

Ever since Tiffany gave me this dress for Auburn at our roommate reunion I have been dreaming of putting it on Auburn - and look at her! A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! Thanks Tiff!

Two New Habits

Ok, Auburn has exhibited two new habits over the past week. One, is sleeping on her tummy. YIKES! right? WRONG! My Aunt Janine gave us the coolest gift. At first I looked at it and thought "oh that's cool" but now I look at it and think "I can't live without you". Yes, you guessed it, she gave us the angel monitor......amazing. It tracks there movements, so if she stops breathing when her face is buried in her mattress, I will know. When they come out with the model that will flip your kid over for you, I will buy it.

The second, is by far more exciting.....she sticks out her tongue. I think my Dad might call that the "concentrating tongue", but I don't know what she could be concentrating so hard on. The other possibility is that she's trying to cool her body temperature. I've considered feeding her peanut butter to see how long her tongue really is - but for now this giant baby picture will have to do.

Little Goodies

My friend Kristen found this great blog called make-it-and-love-it which happens to be the coolest blog ever, and we tried out one of the projects on there and it turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself.

All you do is get baby food jars, some cool fabric, decoupage glue, and some kind of fancy ornamental ribbon/twine and put it together! Super easy - I think it took a total of 20 minutes (not including drying time).

As you can see we did Halloween ones, and Kristen had the BEST fabric! These little owls are a hoot. I also happened to have some trusty-dusty glitter spray* which, of course, makes everything better, that we sprayed on these little suckers giving them a healthy glow.

Inside I put my special spice rub - stolen from Alton Brown (of course) and modified for coolness factor (so I can say, "why yes this is my secret special spice rub").

All-in-all I was really happy with how these little buggers turned out. Now all I have to do is make cute cards to go with them.......Happy Halloween!

*if you choose to spray some glitter spray on your project, make sure to put the lid on first so you don't get any inside. I would hate for you to die of glitter poisoning.

Then and Now

Well well, look who's grown 10 inches (or maybe just 3)....

My friend, Jennifer Ewell made this blanket for Auburn. Every part of Auburn's body seems to be taking turns on when it grows. This week her feet all of the sudden got bigger. In some ways I'm glad it's not all at once, but it does make for long weeks. I feel like I always need something from the store for her. I'm sure from here on out that's how it will always be. Some people feel like they're a slave to there kids - I feel like I'm a slave to consumer-ism. (yes that word is made up)

One thing I do miss is her little snort. She would totally snort when she was upset and now....well, she just cries now.

Look at that picture - she's totally busting out of her outfit! I write about being a constant consumer, and I post a picture of an outfit she's outgrown. Case and point.

At least her outfit matches the blanket.

Provo Canyon

While we were in Utah for Donda's (Greg's Grandma's) funeral we got to drive up Provo canyon and look at all the leaves. Of course that means - PHOTO OPT! We saw about a million people also taking pictures up the canyon - but they didn't have our amazing tri-pod or our adorable Auburn.
